22 May 2007 In charge for the first time? - Try our checklist!
Your first few weeks as a team leader can be both exhilirating and baffling. Here's a few tips as to where to start :

FIRST ISSUE TO ADDRESS :
Team Expectations
- what should people expect of you?
- what do you expect of them?

FIRST ITEM TO SKIP :
Status Review
- It's better to start with teamwork rather than trying to 'get up to speed'

FIRST DOCUMENT TO CREATE :
A Team Charter
- You won't lead them very far if you don't know where you are going!

FIRST ALLY TO RECRUIT :
A Mentor
- As well as learning up and down, try horizontally, ask your peers about the challenges of running a team.
