17 Jan 2010 Is it management or leadership training?
The primary function of leadership training is to create the appropriate culture, instil the values and behaviours for business success and to teach the skills appropriate to that culture.

If organisations don't recognise this then they will waste a lot of money on inappropriate management training. In having the 'trainers' guessing at the values and beliefs, organisations may well be coaching their managers to behave in ways contrary to the culture of the organisation.

Recent research has shown that less than 20% of organisations were clear who specified the outputs and content of management training, as a result less than 40% of line managers were satisfied with their management training and most did not know what it was for.

Like the proverbial marketing budget, find out which 80% of your management training budget your wasting, start getting a return on your investment.
