What are your strategic Performance Management objectives?

 

  1. To provide a database for the organisation's inventory of people?

  2. To provide the individual with feedback on their performance and personal strengths and weaknesses?

  3. To provide for potential for manpower planning purposes?

  4. To help the individual and their subordinate to plan personal and job objectives and ways of achieving them?

  5. To provide a database of the organisation's skills?

  6. To provide a mechanism for the proper assessment of performance by an individual so that s/he may be properly rewarded?

 
Frequently organisations will design systems which try to provide for the implementation of all six objectives simultaneously. Unfortunately, as many organisations have found the hard way, the six are not psychologically compatible.
